Is there anything I can do for my friend whose in a bad household?

My friend is 16 years old, she's adopted and is often verbally abused. Her adoptive parents don't beat her because they've gotten in trouble for that before. But they make her life a living hell, they put her down all the time, telling her she's worthless. It's so bad she's tried committing suicide a couple of times, she cuts herself sometime. I'm scared for my friend and want to help her. She ran away last night so she's safe. But the police are soon going to find her. Is there anything, I mean ANYTHING, that I could do? I want her to live with me because she has nowhere else to go. Her real parents are druggies and she has no other family. She could go back into foster care, but she doesn't want to go back and wants to stay close to her brothers. So I was wondering if there was anything I can do or my parents so that they can be her guardians and live with us.. I read something about petition of guardianship of a minor, but I couldn't comprehend the information. Please help.... I'm scared for my friend and want to help her.
