Shouldn't the less educated classes in Canada be protected from the dangers of worshiping Kate and Will?

They were not unknown last year. William has been known since the day he was born and Kate has been in the public eye for the last eight years at least. We do not worship them we ADMIRE them and there is no reason to "protect" anyone from anything so harmless.
