How to cover wood finish without painting or removing?

I'm moving into a house that my grandparents owned. Im a modern guy. I love Blacks greys and whites in perfect harmony. But my room has brown wooden doors. They built that house and i wouldn't want to get rid of it. Too sentimental. So what would be the best way of covering it up? Or any other tips? And without paining or damaging it in any way. I know its probably impossible but I was wanting to check at other peoples opinions. Please Help!
